Guest Services Manager
 

Full-Time, Year-Round

 

We’re looking for an experienced customer service or success professional to help us take our guest services offering to the next level. The Guest Services Manager will lead our guest services team in providing best-in-class service and hospitality to our fellow adventurers while working closely with our sales and experience execution teams. The Guest Services Manager is responsible for building and developing a strong Guest Services team including hiring, training, scheduling, and team building.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Through their work with our associates, the Guest Services Manager will ensure our guests have a pleasant and memorable experience with The Forge: Lemont Quarries each time they interact with us over the phone, email, social channels, our website, and of course, when they’re enjoying our adventure park. The Guest Services Manager develops, implements, and continually evaluates the guest experience, with short- and long-term goals that support the mission of The Forge: Lemont Quarries Adventure Park. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate all guest services personnel with daily supervision to include staffing, training, discipline, scheduling and visually monitoring performance to ensure adherence to all service and productivity standards to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction across the entire customer journey

  • Implement, manage, and maintain all guest services software applications and communications channels and become an expert in using our reservation booking platform

  • Communicate with guests and other employees both verbally and in writing to answer questions and provide clear direction in advising and instructing staff in the details of guest services work

  • Work with the General Manager and other directors to develop and monitor key performance indicators for the guest services team and overarching function

  • Demonstrate The Forge: Lemont Quarries core values in interactions with staff, members, and guests in word and in action

  • Help other managers, directors, and executive leadership to drive performance and efficiency to maximize revenue and profit

  • Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Sales Manager, and Programming Directors to ensure clear and consistent communication across departments and to guests

  • Collaborate with our Marketing and Programming Directors and their staff to unify our voice and tone to ensure hosts, guides, sales, and services across departments communicate clearly and effectively with our guests along the customer journey

  • Own and improve the membership program to ensure high member satisfaction and retention

  • Build a strong party and small group bookings program to drive revenue and meet customer demand

  • Take ownership of our retail offerings, both in park and online, managing inventory and ensuring minimal loss

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of guest experience management background, fitness and/or health & wellness industry preferred

  • Excellent communication, time management and organization skills

  • Near boundless energy and enthusiasm

  • A high level of self-awareness and receptivity to coaching

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time

  • Availability to work varied shifts inside and outside the park, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Eight Towers Adventure Guide
 

Part-Time, Seasonal

The Forge: Lemont Quarries wants you to join our rock star squad of Adventure Guides for the spring and summer of 2021! We’re looking for enthusiastic and outgoing individuals to help us create an amazing guest experience on the Eight Towers Adventure ropes course.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Our Adventure Guides are in charge of monitoring the ropes course and are active in the management of guest and staff safety as they explore throughout the park. Both in the air and on the ground, Adventure Guides provide encouragement, assistance, support, and guidance to guests all while maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor. Adventure guide responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working both at height and on the ground to survey and monitor guests, fellow staff members, and the course with strict adherence to operating procedures and safety standards

  • Communicate with guests and other employees verbally and in possibly stressful situations to answer questions and provide clear direction with patience and tact

  • Demonstrate The Forge: Lemont Quarries core values in interactions with staff, members, and guests in word and in action

  • Work to facilitate an emotionally and physically safe environment for guests to explore outside of their comfort zones while adhering to the ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy

  • Daily inspection involving traversing course components and documentation of course and related equipment

  • Report to the Ropes Course / Assistant Ropes Course Managers and working closely with other Adventure Guides and Adventure Hosts to ensure clear and consistent communication and services to guests

  • Help other Adventure Guides, Adventure Hosts, Ropes Course leadership, and executive leadership to drive performance and efficiency to maximize course throughput and customer satisfaction

  • Demonstrate course stewardship and assisting in course, equipment, and site maintenance when directed which may include cleaning,  repair, inventory, and inspection


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 18+ years of age*

  • Must be within participant requirements of the course (forgeparks.com/eight-towers-adventure)

  • Must attend and pass a paid 6-day 40-hour training session, including an 8-hour online component and skills assessment (written and practical)

  • Must have a basic standard of physical fitness, endurance, communication skills, and manual dexterity. Position requires the ability to climb, lift and pull a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as sit in a harness and stand for extended periods

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions including sun, rain, wind, and extreme heat/cold for extended periods. The job requires employees to be outside for the entirety of each shift

  • Require decision-making, risk management, and customer service skills, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work calmly under pressure in situations at height.

  • Requires a team-oriented attitude, punctuality, professionalism, and desire to help others (guest and peer alike)

  • Willingness to pitch in at all levels, there is no room for a “not my job” attitude

Recruitment Note: Adventure Guides can be selected for advanced training. Advanced Guide training requires an additional 20 hours to learn advanced assists and rescues. Advanced Guides are required to first pass the basic guide skills assessment and training.

Eight Towers Adventure Host

We are seeking candidates who are excited and ready to act as guest experience creators extraordinaire at the Eight Towers Adventure for the spring and summer season of 2021.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adventure Hosts are a key part of the Eight Towers Adventure guest experience from checking in, to selling merchandise, to donning harnesses, all the way to teaching guests to use their gear, and starting them on their adventure on the course. Hosts operate fully from the ground, coaching guests and assisting guides in identifying those in need of assistance on course. Adventure Host’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Communicate with guests and other employees verbally and in possibly stressful situations to answer questions and provide clear direction and solutions with patience and tact

  • Daily inspection and inventory of course structures and equipment including applicable documentation

  • Answer basic questions regarding the operation of the park and ropes course

  • Act as an ambassador of The Forge, informing guests not only about the adventure and entertainment experiences but also of the nature surrounding them once onsite

  • Coach, screen, and assess participants through observation and guest interaction

  • Deliver briefings to groups of participants in a clear, confident manner

  • Demonstrate The Forge: Lemont Quarries core values in interactions with staff, members, and guests in word and in action

  • Work to facilitate an emotionally and physically safe environment for guests to explore outside of their comfort zones while adhering to the ‘challenge by choice’ philosophy

  • Communication skills and basic public speaking skills and confidence to deliver briefings to guests

  • Must have a team-player and self-starter attitude as well as a willingness to jump in to help wherever needed; there is no room for a “not my job” attitude

  • The ability to follow directions and complete tasks as directed by management with and without constant supervision. Must be receptive to coaching and feedback

  • The ability to retain information relating to the course and equipment with attention to detail in order to assist with  course inspections

  • Must be punctual and responsible with the ability to consistently show up for scheduled shifts

Outdoor Education Instructor
 

Part-Time, Seasonal

We are looking to grow our amazing team of adventure enthusiasts! The Outdoor Education Instructor is a seasonal position with room to gain incredible skills and opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors, education, and people! In this role, you will be directly responsible for providing quality experiential experiences and outdoor learning to a wide variety of students.  Classes being taught will vary in subject matter from natural sciences to social sciences to name a few.  A positive attitude, a love for working with students, and a desire to make a difference are a must!


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Outdoor Education Instructor is on the front line of creating the ultimate learning experience and opening students’ eyes to the potential within and around them with the outdoors as their vehicle.  This person will work with multiple departments in order to achieve this goal.  Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Potential to participate in program development and implementation

  • teach classes from all curriculum areas

  • Guide students through daily schedule of activities

  • Ensuring students meet the requirements for utilizing the various attractions

  • Communicate with students and staff in a professional and friendly manner that instills trust, support, and creates an incredible experience

  • Facilitate a positive, high energy, silly, welcoming and enthusiastic outdoor education culture

  • Knowledge of when to call Administrative Staff to help in difficult/dangerous situations

  • Behavioral de-escalation

  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time training commences

  • Must have some college experience

  • Great with people and passionate about working in the outdoor education, recreation industry

  • Be in good physical condition in order to handle the daily job duties

  • Experience or college course work in experiential learning and outdoor education are a plus

East Side Adventure Host

We are looking to grow our amazing team of adventure enthusiasts! The East Side Adventure Host is an entry-level position with room for immediate advancement into more senior roles.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors, sports, or recreation and love working with people. In this role, you will be directly responsible for amazing guest experiences. A positive attitude, willingness to work hard and learning is a must!


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The East Side Adventure Host is on the front line of the guest experience working across all East Side activities including Paddlesports, Mountain Bikes, Two Towers Adventure Kids Activity Zone, and Digital Activities (tactical laser tag, AR adventure games). Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Working with the team to operate all East Side attractions

  • Communicate with guests and staff in a professional and friendly manner that instills trust, support, and creates an incredible experience

  • Assisting guests as they enter different attractions, validating admissions tickets, and assisting with safety procedures

  • Assist guests as they make their way through the park, actively engaging in conversation and offering suggestions in order to better the experience

Marketing & Community Director
 

Full-Time, Year-Round

We are looking for a dynamic individual who shares our values to join our team as our Marketing & Community Director. This person will be responsible for extending our brand’s reach and influence in the region, ultimately leading to increased sales throughout the greater Chicagoland area.

The Marketing & Community Director will drive all marketing and promotional efforts (both paid and organic) for our company, develop and manage relationships with community organizations, corporate sponsors, and other strategic partners, manage our internal and third-party marketing teams, and work closely with the General Manager to ensure overall alignment on strategic planning, budgeting, and tactical execution of our vision.

The Marketing & Community Director is also responsible for identifying and proposing opportunities for audience development, creating and implementing engaging execution plans aimed at growing and retaining our customer base with an emphasis on our diverse ideal client profiles.

This is not a “behind a desk” marketing gig. We expect the Marketing & Community Director to be part of the community, identifying opportunities for partnerships and introducing the brand to underdeveloped segments of our market.

The selected candidate will possess successful, results-driven marketing experience, strong leadership and communication skills, an ability to work independently, and is highly organized and energetic. It goes without saying, but a “Yes and” attitude and ensemble-orientation is an absolute must.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the Marketing & Community Director include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • Develop and execute our community engagement strategy and business plan to increase reach, engagement, and retention based on data-informed insights

  • Create go-to-market program strategies and scorecards to ensure marketing goals are being achieved

  • Collaborate with the GM, Entertainment Programming Director, and Education Programming Director to continuously assess monthly activity sales and optimize marketing efforts to drive additional sales

  • Develop and sustain community relationships with key influencers, organizations, and leaders, expanding the brand’s reach while creating meaningful and purposeful connections

  • Manage all advertising campaigns including media placement, budget, and internal creative process

  • Lead and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy to include participation in events and support the research, strategic development, planning and implementation of all community engagement programs and events

  • Develop and maintain effective, dedicated relationships with community organizations to meet the company's philanthropic goals, as well as position the company as a strong community partner

  • Develop initiatives and cause marketing campaigns that will benefit the community and promote a positive image of the company and its partners

  • Oversee volunteer opportunities

  • Manage all incoming publicity and/or partnership inquiries, atop developing new partnership opportunities throughout the Chicagoland area

  • Oversee website updates, ensuring show pages are built and published correctly and on-time

  • Annual budget development and oversight, properly managing scope creep on a project by project basis

  • Oversee and manage the marketing coordinator with the opportunity to expand the team, upon proven results


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Entrepreneurship, or related field

  • Minimum 5-years professional experience in Sales, Marketing, Communications, or related fields
